A few days ago, I’ve seen Mad Max: Fury Road (2015).

My conclusion?

The biggest complaint I have with the movie is not about action, actors, script, or anything else. It’s about having a soul. Just like most movies by Christopher Nolan, this movie, also, has no soul. The main hero has some internal fights with his past. They are ignored, or just mentioned (he says he needs redemption, but that’s it). There’s little to no romance between characters. The good guy wants to live, but, despite his actions (he fights a lot), he doesn’t let this be seen too much. When he sees some almost naked ladies with water on them, and then he shares a cab with them he has little to no reaction to them. Incredibly hot girls, long ride, nothing happens (being mad is no excuse). Even the lack of suspense (I talk about it in the current article) is an emotion which is lacking. There’s not lust for anything, for living, for pleasures, for ethics, for a goal, for nothing. „Look, I’m powerful, he seems to be saying, and I lived to see another day”. At the beginning of the movie, he eats a reptile. But he’s not fighting too much, he doesn’t care so much, he doesn’t have a lust for living. Not too sexy, in my opinion. The main character also has the big fault of not having any faults, he doesn’t seem vulnerable and human. Also, to decide that the good guy is good and the bad guy is bad, you need more than a mask, you need to see it through their actions. This doesn’t really happen. Other than that, just like in movies by Christopher Nolan, George Miller does a great job. Entertaining, nice script, good actors, good everything. One year passes, and all you remember is the action and graphics, but not too much the emotions you’ve had. Compare this with Quentin Tarantino, which gives you all the things above, and, still, manages to add lots of emotion to everything. And, also, he has suspense. As a conclusion, it’s still a good movie to watch, smart, good reviews and average grade on IMDb and so on.

Aveam un articol mai demult cu filmele mele favorite. Acum cred că titlul e un pic necorespunzător. Sunt filme care îmi plac, dar care nu sunt potrivite oricui, la modul general.

Așa că, am revenit în articolul de față cu o listă cu filmele mele recomandate spre vizionare.

Am văzut o reclamă atipică la Metrou Unirea 2. Am trecut de intrare, și m-a izbit un miros puternic, cu amintiri din trecut. M-am uitat în jur, și mi-a luat ceva timp să îmi dau seama că era o reclamă. Ulterior, am văzut reclama respectivă, dar cu alte arome, și la Romană. Probabil e și prin alte stații de metrou.

M-a atras diversitatea ei, prin miros ajunge direct în emoții, trece de rațiune, și îți place instinctual. După ce am trecut de reclamă, m-a lovit mirosul, era în față un chioșc de covrigi.

Poate aș fi pus un stand cu „cumpără cafea”, ar fi fost ceva mai eficient, mai degrabă decât să cresc consumul de covrigi.

Altfel, o reclamă bine făcută. Dacă ajungeți pe la Unirea / Romană, uitați-vă un pic la ea, mi se pare interesantă.

Film recomandat: Interstellar (2014)

Vă recomand să vedeți Interstellar (2014) ». Prima parte mi-a adus tot atâtea emoții și idei noi ca Inception/Seria Dark Knight, și doream ca filmul să se termine mai repede. Partea a doua m-a făcut să plâng și mi-a adus o mulțime de idei noi. Și emoții, și idei. Ce să-i mai ceri? Altfel, vizual superb, muzică de ți se ridică părul pe mână, actori de primă clasă, suspans excelent. Scenariul, uneori cu scăpări, și o primă parte un pic seacă, la prima vizionare a filmului. E o perspectivă atipică, filmul merită văzut numai pentru abordarea inedită / fundal sonor / grafică / actori. Sau pentru că e un film de referință. Dacă vreți o argumentație mai bună pentru film, vedeți (cu mici spoliere): Mihnea Măruță: „Interstellar: direcţii” | Surpriza. Nu vă uitați la trailer, n-are ce să vă arate. E imposibil de pus în 2-3 minute senzația din film.

Mi-a plăcut mult filmul. V-aș recomanda să nu citiți ce zic mai jos, și să vă uitați, pur și simplu, la film. Dacă vreți să citiți, purcedeți mai departe, cu mențiunea că voi avea spoiler-e (adică voi prezenta lucruri din finalul filmului, care vă vor răpi plăcerea primei vizionări.

Sfatul meu – nu vă uitați la trailer, nu citiți prea mult despre filme, vedeți-le și documentați-vă ulterior despre ele.

The Hobbit (film series)

Regarding The Hobbit (film series): The movie puts emphasis on family, closely knit relationships. „You are not alone. You belong with us”. There’s nothing stopping them. In the beginning, Bilbo Baggins is reluctant. After he joins the „tribe”, nothing stops them from doing good. They take risk, they show courage and guts. They fight, they’re not afraid. They’re good and do nice things. Good prevails. (I’m still watching the movie, maybe I’ll update things after it ends) Update: see, here, in Romanian »

Fantoma de la Operă – review

Am văzut în seara aceasta „Fantoma de la Operă” (bilete », momentan indisponibile, de reverificat site-ul periodic).

Am văzut piesa anterior la Londra, am văzut filmul de două ori, am răsfoit cartea pe Kindle (am citit la început, după care am mers mult mai repede prin ea), am ascultat cântecele din piesă de câteva zeci de ori, în mai multe interpretări. Am ascultat de cel puțin 5.000 de ori melodii compuse de Andrew-Lloyd Webber (inclusiv alte musical-uri). Este în top 5 compozitori care îmi plac.

Am mai văzut ceva spectacole de operă în Constanța.

Față de orice am văzut anterior, spectacolul din seara asta a fost la un nivel înalt. Mi-a plăcut foarte mult două lucruri: vocea și interpretarea date personajului feminin – Irina Baianț » (Christine Daaé), și decorurile / costumele / organizarea.

Fury (2014) – a philosophical movie of war heroes preferring to chat rather than fight!

I just saw Fury (2014), at a recommendation of a friend. Most reviews focus on the military aspects of fighting, the implausible scenario of fighting, some on the cruelty of the characters, some on the cliches of the characters of their behaviors. My focus is on something else – the lack of pragmatism in an American soldier: A battalion of SS fighters are coming their way, and they spend around 5 minutes deciding – „should we stay? Yes, I stay! I don’t know! Should I stay”. They prepare a little and then they finally enter the tank. And they talk about 10 minutes. „Isn’t this great? Let’s drink. Life is good. Haha, this is so funny!”. It was unbelievable. At some point, the rookie of the team tells them „Hey, the Germans were coming!”. They thought they were about to be killed, and they forgot to check if the Germans were coming. They weren’t even looking. All this while being pretty sure that they are about to be killed. Then there’s the final scene in the fights, where Brad Pitt enters the tank and they talk for a while. Nothing much, just philosophies. He says he’s sorry. This is happening with the tank being surrounded by Germans, guns firing, and all. And two characters talk about war. (they could be shot any minute with anti-tank weapons) I didn’t think they were at war. We, Romanians, have a song called „Miorita”. It has been translated. Anyhow, the poem is about giving up life, and considering death like a wedding. …

Dumb and Dumber To (2014) – very nice movie!

I liked this movie a lot: Dumb and Dumber To (2014) – IMDb. Some thoughts? It’s funny (pun intended) to see the consequences of joking. You don’t see this at first, but it’s nice. Humor has lots to do with either surprise or creativity (getting an idea). The first D&D was more on surprise, this one was more on getting some creative insights. A welcome change. It played well on „how should you see the new D&D, based on the fact that you already saw the previous version” (for example, what happened during the time between the movies, or what happened to the car?”. The smart people tend to have less courage. The stupid ones called, interacted, were friendly. At times, the characters said some pretty smart things. I really loved the pain the characters went through to have a bit of laugh. The effort to enjoy themselves, the pain they put for this. They didn’t play by the rules, they were creative. In the movie, they had not too much courage, but they were good people. They were reckless and cute in the same time. All-in-all, it was not extremely smart, but it was a pleasant watch. Good prevails. Their good intentions were better than their lack of capacities and abilities in solving things. I recently saw Beauty and the Beast (1991) – IMDb and Beauty and the Beast (2014) – IMDb, but I got much better insights & ideas from D&D to. Very fun to watch. :)
