Using influencer media in products

Let’s say you’re a company working with influencers. You hire people to post on their social media about your products.

One way to handle this is not to use the content the influencers create in any way.

But there’s another way – you could include information from them on your own social media accounts and your product pages.

So, if they create a photo of them using your product, you can share that photo on your social media accounts and also add it to the image gallery of your product.

Of course, you’ll need to agree about this right from the beginning and give credit.

There’s a study that says that:

With five experimental studies, we determine that women exhibit greater purchase intentions for products displayed in a rich contextual setting rather than a plain white background, but men are not positively affected by this display strategy.  (What women want? How contextual product displays influence women’s online shopping behavior – ScienceDirect)

So, seeing your products in a realistic environment might increase their likelihood of being bought.

  • Superscrieri Gala has reached its 12th edition. This year’s theme is “New Generations – Young wolves get a taste of the Press”.
  • Superscrieri is launching a new competition category, “Civic Influencers”, which rewards creators of civic or socially-minded online content.
  • The best journalism of 2022 in Romania will also be evaluated and awarded by new jury members, including Tudor Mușat, Cristian Leonte, Daniel Condurache, Monica Jitariuc and Alex Gâlmeanu.
  • The public can vote for their favorite nominee for the Readers’ Choice Award, worth €3000.

Bucharest, 11th of April 2023: The best journalistic material written in 2022 will be awarded at the #Superscrieri12 Gala which takes place in the middle of May.

LinkedIn Premium – pro and cons for candidates and companies

What does LinkedIn generally offer in its Premium plan? And my take on them.

  • InMail – They allow you to send emails to people outside your direct connections. If you are looking for a job, it might be worthwhile to be able to send anyone a message.
  • See the list of people who viewed your profile. Useful if you’re job hunting.
  • Access to a library of courses. It’s a nice bonus; I watched some courses and considered them OK. Still, there are alternatives to this (YouTube clips, Udemy, Coursera, and many others).
  • If you’re a company seeking to attract talent, the Premium plan allows you to search for candidates easily.

Bottom line: if you’re job hunting or looking for candidates for your own jobs, it might be worthwhile to use LinkedIn Premium.

In the long run, though, if I wanted a good career, I would use my time to build an online portfolio (for example, a personal blog or social network) – this might be a better tool than paying to LinkedIn. A popular blog/social network could bring me more value.

PS: I haven’t used Premium (I’m waiting to get a trial for when I’ll really need it), but I think I’m quite familiar with the platform.

It’s for your own good!

Some people say: “I did X for your own good.”

The problem with the above quote is that the person did X for their own good, not mine. It’s such a cheesy line.

Some people like to be lied to, and people need to believe in placebos.

But the feeling of being lied to can be heartbreaking.

Examples in my life:

  • “You must be busy; I’ll end the conversation and let you go now …”
  • “It’s good for you to do so, as you already like …”
  • “You lost the project, but this can make you improve your life on aspect X; so, even if you lost now, you could learn Y, and you’ll benefit from it…”

When can you use this technique? When you want to help someone, they might object.

“I’m giving you this object for free” is not as persuasive as “Please take this object; you need it more than me.” It’s not actually a lie, and people might agree with it.

“Take this object; I don’t actually need it; it’s good for you.”

Power and Precision

“Power & Precision” was (as far as I remember) the motto of one very interesting person from CHiP forum (now inactive).

I find in life that you need to cover two things: the elephants in the room (that’s power) and the small details (that’s precision).

Both are necessary, like the horse and carriage, like love and marriage, and they interwind.

You need both intense things (power) and extensive solution, with lots of space (precision).

Some things about Stutz (2022)

I liked the following about Stutz (2022) documentary movie:

  • I have the same disease, which is avoiding emotion by making jokes. – I tend to do so myself. This really touched me, I thought about this for a while.
  • That’s why you have three aspects of reality that nobody gets to avoid: Pain, uncertainty, and constant work. – I think all people have this. Or, at least me, project this to humanity.
  • If you think of it as a pyramid, there are three levels of the life force: relationship with your physical body, connection with other people, and relationship with yourself. – Something to think about.

It’s a nice movie, perhaps not 10/10, but 9/10, yet I don’t think it’s for everybody. You might not enjoy the emotions it puts you through, but the ideas you will get at the end of the experience could be nice.
