Soluție pentru adăugare diacritice foarte bună – https://diacritice.ai/

readerwalker - Tough primitive little writing machine

On productivity

Dhruv Patel - TIME is Important

Some people say to make a quadrant with important/less important and priority/non-priority tasks:

  • Important and priority tasks – do them first;
  • Less important, but priority OR important but smaller priority tasks – do them later;
  • Not important, non-priority tasks – postpone them until forever.

I don’t agree with this model. By following these principles, there are some things that will only get done months after they were supposed to.

I suggest you also put in your program less-than-important tasks.

What is more relevant to me is dividing time into the following types of tasks:

  • Tasks to be done when you have a lot of energy (to me, that’s the morning and first part of the day); in here – put the most difficult tasks; creative tasks, tasks which require attention;
  • Tasks do be done when you have less energy, but, still, you can finish tasks (the second part of the day); in here – put some tasks which may be a bit boring and repetitive;
  • Finally, some tasks for which you have no energy (later in the evening); in here – watching movies, reading books, reading online journals.

The thing is, at times it gets difficult to schedule tasks. Putting limits helps, forcing now to waste time on some web sites, to only reply to some messages, not to do distracting activities, help. But, at times, I plan to do X, and, still, not manage to do so.

Anyhow, the planning based on energy level works much better for me than planning based on importance.

How do you know what hard-drive to buy?

Alex Soojung-Kim Pang - Cambridge in the hard drive

For buying hard-drives, there are a few factors to consider:

  • How much hard-drive size do you actually need right now? Do you need, as a minimum, 1 TB, or 2, or 10? Do note that for hard drive 1 GB = 1000 MB (as opposed to 1024), 1 TB = 1000 GB (as opposed to 1024), so if you buy a 1 TB hard drive, it will be around 10% smaller than you expect it to be. If you buy a large hard drive, even if you plan to buy a 10 TB hard drive, you might notice you got a 900+ GB hard drive.
  • How much capacity you’ll need in the next period of time until you’ll buy another drive? Will you need another 1 TB, or 2, or 3?
  • What’s the cost per GB/TB for a specific drive? This is one good way of comparing drives?
  • Which drives are most reliable? You can Google „hard drive reliability statistics” and find recent data such as this one ».
  • How fast do you need the drive to be? Do you need 5400 RPM (rotations per minute; 5400 is slower) or 7200 RPM (a bit faster)?
  • How will you back-up the data? It might be a good idea to save the day-to-day, very important files and projects you work on a Cloud Drive syncing solution (Dropbox, Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive are fine solutions). For extra data, you might need yet another hard drive, internal, external, or in a NAS solution.
  • Are you willing to wait for promotions to appear? Currently, Western Digital does from time to time (once every few months) discounts on Amazon.com. Currently, the 10 TB, 5400 RPM, internal, NAS hard drive from Western Digital is a good deal that appears on Amazon.com from time to time. Prime Day will be in October 2020 this year, as opposed to July, in previous years.
  • Generally, I prefer to buy hard drives from Amazon.com, delivered from the US, rather than buying them from Romania, for price discounts.

Câteva idei despre scrierea unui articol

May Ledesma - write

Ai de scris un articol? Fac mai jos câteva mențiuni pe tema asta:

  • Aș evita „definiția lui X este …”, sau aș reduce asta la un minim;
  • Aș pune mare accent pe „din experiența/observația/după părerea mea …”;
  • Dacă sunt fotografii, eu le prefer pe toate la început / final de articol, sau într-o galerie, nu între paragrafe – nu sunt sigur de sfatul ăsta;
  • Pentru orice lucru documentat de alții, aș scrie cel mult o propoziție, și aș da în schimb link către material (text sau video);
  • Dacă e un articol mare, l-aș structura cun anchors și cuprins la început, cum e orice articol mai mare pe Wikipedia;
  • Aș căuta să citesc ce întreabă oamenii aici: https://answerthepublic.com/
