In some time management courses people recommend “do the most important task first”.
But they fail to recognize the importance of motivation.
Perhaps there are some tasks you really love doing, and focus on them, and leave some important tasks not for the last, but for later.
I like taking part in contests, even if a lot of times I end up losing.
They tend to help me place myself in a crowd – what place will I get when competing against others?
Am I a good writer or not?
Do I have innovative and creative ideas?
Do I work well enough?

I think it’s the other way around. Life is very objective, and what we have in mind is a personal perception.
What Gabriel García Márquez got right is that the metaphor is more important to you than the reality.
If to you “1 + 1 = 3”, that’s more important than the actual truth. But just for you.
The author wants to say here, probably, that metaphors and imagery are so important that they become flesh, they enter into a concrete way.
In this sense, I like the quote.
Why not give a pre-prepared speech?
If you are reading a speech, you tend to look for metaphors.
People, a lot of times, want to see vulnerability, not perfect metaphors.
It’s not easy to become the best, to have the best, and so on.
It looks easy – I want the best services/products. It’s not.
If you want a good screen monitor, you can look at prices and buy an Apple monitor, but that’s not necessarily the best.
If you want a good computer keyboard, you might get an expensive mechanical keyboard, but there might be better deals.
The most expensive mouse/phone/mattress/chair might not be a good fit for you.
This doesn’t mean that you should always buy the cheapest products.
What it means is that if you’re looking for something good, you need to do a bit of research.
Some feedback, some sales, some recommendations, some ratings – all of this helps.
But you still need to do your research.
I would like to present a small comparison between Mad Max: Fury Road (2015) and Kill Bill: Vol. 1 (2003) and Kill Bill: Vol. 2 (2004):
I think that TV commercials tend to be aggressive.
Not all of them, and it certainly depends on the country.
But most ads, to be memorable, need to create some sort of surprise.
It would be great to have a soft surprise, an internal realization, an insight.
But a lot of time more abrupt surprises are preferred – shocking, aggressive, loud.
In a convent, as in psychology, you play on unstable ground.
It’s easy to promise, but difficult to keep your promise.
You know the rules, but you can fail.
Monasticism and psychology are sometimes a gamble.
You can earn a lot (spirit, knowledge), but it’s also the way you fall.
Lucifer used to be the most beautiful angel.
You can have virtues and still fall.
