When to follow up and when not to

You should, in my opinion, follow up after asking for help.

When shouldn’t you? When offering help.

So, if you ask for something and receive help, say what happened with the help.

When you offer help, you may follow up, but not necessarily so.

– Cine e acolo?
– Sunt Bulă, fratele tău… Ai cerneală?
– Nu am!
La ora 1 dimineața din nou se aud bătăi în geam.
– Cine-i acolo?
– Tot Bulă, fratele tău. Tot nu ai cerneală?
– Nu! Lasă-mă să dorm!
La ora 3 dimineața din nou se aud bătăi în geam.
– Am adus cerneală…

Despre jocul la Loto

Eu nu joc la Loto, am citit că după 6 luni de când ai câștigat o avere mare, sau când ți-ai pierdut un picior, ajungi la același nivel de fericire.

Te poți obișnui și cu câștigul, și cu pierderea.

Dacă aș juca, strategia mea ar fi să joc 5 numere consecutive, și unul aiurea. Motivul? Dacă cumva se întâmplă să iasă acea combinație, e mai improbabil să o joace cineva decât 6 numere aleatorii.

Iar celor care zic “Nu o să iasă niciodată numerele 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 38. E absurd!” le spun că e aceeași probabilitate să iasă orice altă combinație, contează doar cu cine împarți câștigul.

Dacă nu crezi că poate ieși vreodată 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 38, nu juca, orice altceva ai juca e fix aceeași probabilitate, contează doar psihologia celorlalți jucători și să nu împarți câștigul cu ei.

On La sociedad de la nieve (2023)

I liked La sociedad de la nieve (2023). Good movie, not excellent, but good.

One thing, though – it made me think about what people do when faced with extreme situations.

It seems that even in the most complex, most difficult situations, people tend not to use their creativity 100%.

To solve their situation, they had to do two big things. At some point, they did one, and following that, they did another big thing in the movie.

The question is – why did people have to die? What kept them from acting right from the start the way they did?

Even in life-and-death situations, we don’t use our potential enough.

“You’ll die if you don’t do this!”

“Ok.”

(to me, this is not an appropriate answer)

There’s a difference

I went to London in 2015. When I went there, I had some job interviews.

People assumed I was the same as a regular Londoner – I had hands, eyes, and energy. What was different was my culture and my habits.

I wasn’t raised in the UK, and although I had the same body as everyone else, my culture, way of thinking, and education were all different.

In some aspects, I might have been better; in others, worse.

But it’s not the same as hiring Breda, who was raised in Romania, the Netherlands, or the UK: different countries, different “Breda”s.

It seems simple, but some people don’t observe this.

Despre #ficționar-ul lui Iv cel Naiv:

Obișnuiam să cred că sunt anumite cuvinte cu conotații.

Că dacă zici oftalmolog, te gândești la oftat și la ologi.

După ce a apărut #ficționar-ul, mi-am dat seama că niciun cuvânt nu mai e în siguranță de a fi asociat cu diverse, chestii, trestii.

“Oftalmolog” deja devine generos, i s-ar putea atribui mult mai multe.
