Articolul de față are un singur scop – să îți arate că cea mai importantă regulă de a scrie un email este să scrii încă de la începutul emailului ce dorești de la destinatar (“te invit să contactezi persoana X și să îi transmiți Y” / “am nevoie de la tine de ajutorul X în problema Y” / “vreau să îți spun ce s-a stabilit la ședința de ieri, mesajul de față e pur informativ, nu e necesară o acțiune din partea ta”). Să zicem că sunteți în căutarea unui site prin intermediul căruia să găsiți imagini gratuite de calitate. (unde “gratuite” implică, de obicei, menționarea sursei cu link) Problema pe care o am eu la orice căutare de foto (și dacă vrei să fie și gratuite, lucrurile se complică, pentru că sunt mult mai puține) e dată de două componente: Relevanța. Să intru pe un site, să scriu freedom, și să obțin lucruri relevante. Grafica reușită. Să intru pe un site, să scriu freedom și imaginile să arate foarte bine. Pentru relevanță, am nevoie de un site cu o băză de date mare, cu multe imagini. Pe partea asta Google Images se descurcă bine. Multe imagini, pot găsi rapid multe imagini fără copyright. Din păcate, majoritatea sunt insuficient de aspectuoase, pentru gustul meu, desigur. Pentru grafică reușită, nu cred că există algoritm clar, dar cred în puterea unei comunități. Dacă site-ul are o comunitate mare, care votează pozele, dă rating, spune “asta e OK și asta e mai puțin OK”, sunt șanse mari ca pozele alese ca reprezentative să fie, realmente, și pe gustul meu. Din cele două cerințe de mai sus, cel mai aproape de adevăr este, în opinia mea, motorul de căutare al Flickr. Au o bază mare de useri, și pot folosi asta pentru a își da seama care din cele 1.000 de imagini pentru freedom e mai relevantă și care e mai aspectuoasă.
