An event this evening let me to this idea:
Quality is cheap, while both luxury and stinginess are expensive.

Quite a few of the news web sites in Romania started adding „VIDEO” or „AUDIO” or „PHOTO GALERY„. In my opinion, it’s a poor choice. It’s only addressing the emotional state – „like / love / hate”. It’s not cerebral, it’s not smart, intellectual or anything. Glamour & briz-briz & fantasies. I want to visit a news web site to read news which is of intellectual interest to me. I don’t want tabloid-style news. P.S.: Not my original idea, but I embrace it 100%.
I used to look at two major things when analyzing a speaker at a conference: Personal charisma / ability to convey a message; The message itself. But it’s more than this; most conferences also have a main theme, they focus on something; well, from that perspective, it’s best to see a speaker who: Has done something great in his / her field; I got this idea at Webstock 11; some speakers had no particular charisma, others lacked a very good message; but, still, they fitted well, due to their experiences; it was very appropriate to see a top performer in his/her field, even if the message and the „package” of the message was not that great. So, this should better help you / me decide: La ce conferințe / training-uri / workshop-uri / seminarii din România să participi? Cum alegi? Experiențe personale – Fii eficient!
I think there are two major things in life: a. What you do because you have to (you need to eat, thus you need money, thus you need to work, thus you need to have a job, thus you need to act in certain ways); b. What you do just because you want to (decide to go out for a run, play a game); OK, the above is not rocket science, but it’s pretty important on how decisive are the above things on emotions; only do things because you’re forced to, and you may not feel good; managing to do the things you love & have to do at the same time, you may feel better; Also, diversity is key – you can’t eat chocolate all day and expect to feel great after this; A final observation – the above are very likely seen in movies – you may notice what is a job and what is a pleasure; also, people seem to get a lot pleasure from childhood.
I want to be a good presenter; so, when Al GORE said in „An inconvenient truth” (2006) that he has held the speech / presentation in the movie for more than 1,000 times, I looked for some methods he used; I will not speak in the blog post about the message itself, but about how it was said; when seeing the movie, do remember that Al GORE is a successful politician, so he, in theory, should have the ability to hold a very good speech.
Sometimes, you’re asked for a decision – do you want this job? Do you want to take this trip? Would you like to sell your (car/apartment) for X money? Would you consider this new philosophy?
You can live your life in various ways; I am rather radical when I say that you must live it intense & keep things fast. Are there counter examples? Praying should be slow; eating should be done slower; some sports require relaxation, rather than intense concentration; doing things fast can lead to mistakes. But, overall, I consider that a fast & intense life is the way to go.
You can consider this – the whole creation of the Universe, then the world, the history, each person in the past, pretty much everything in the past helped, little or more, so that you are where you are today. It may have been with a purpose or without, but to me it’s very uplifting to consider that the whole past determined, in one way, my presence on Earth today. (I’ve heard this at a coaching NLP class, but it was a thought by someone not in the room, and I don’t remember who it was)
I like this classic quote: Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. Very uplifting; it mostly refers to a specific situation – getting fooled by somebody else; but, in a broader sense, one can get „fooled” by life; it’s somehow life’s fault if it surprises me with something I’m not prepared for; but the second time, it’s only my responsibility. George BUSH knows this well:
On 2011.07.22, I took part to a play: “A midsummer night’s dream” by William SHAKESPEARE. The event was part of Școală de vara de Actorie (acting summer camp) by Calea Victoriei foundation. Photos from the event.
