You know the story – you see a web site, it offers subscription via RSS. You go – „Oh, I’d like so much to subscribe. But it’s only RSS, and I don’t use it”.
Follow-up: The House of the Free Press – view from above (2011.06.25)
On the 2011.06.25, I had the pleasure of going to the highest floor of The House of the Free Press and to take some photos with that moment.
On success and failure
Yesterday I’ve read Tudor OCTAVIAN: În sus şi în jos | Jurnalul National (in Romanian).
SEO is not IT
IT is: Information technology (IT) is the acquisition, processing, storage and dissemination of vocal, pictorial, textual and numerical information by a microelectronics-based combination of computing and telecommunications. SEO is: Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the visibility of a website or a web page in search engines via the „natural” or un-paid („organic” or „algorithmic”) search results. Yet, I get to see this confusion quite often – „You’re in IT”; I’m not; I may be in marketing, PR, communication, IT also; but never just IT; IT is, actually, quite a small part of things. Sure, I am at a computer most of the time, sure, I do know IT things, have an idea on a lot of processes in IT; but that’s not my specialization.
The most important resource for SEO – Search Ranking Factors – now in its 2011 edition
I consider Search Ranking Factors by SEOmoz the most relevant resource for SEO, since it gives you reasons on why do a certain activity, rather than another. It can help you a lot in putting priorities – „this is important and easy to do, while this is neither important, nor easy to do”. And, following this, you know how to take a decision.
You don’t get smarter as you age (if you don’t chose to do so)
I have two assumptions for this blog post:
- If you don’t plan to, you don’t get smarter as you age – how can I prove this? In my opinion, most people in age are not necessarily smarter at 40 than they were at 20; sure, they are better at some things, but, overall they may not be smarter; or, to put it another way, not much smarter; I personally don’t see this in life – „People at 40 at smarter than people at 20”; sure, they are better with some skills, but not necessarily much smarter;
- If you plan to, you can get smarter – how can I prove this? A lot of people that are smart now have gone through an intended process (read the things they planned, had the experiences they planned, went through life with a plan);
