You may look at this and tell me I’m wrong; why would I buy a camera from another country, with difficulties in returning it, and, possibly, with a smaller time-frame for warranty than in Romania (one year vs. two years)? The answer is simple – I don’t “believe” in warranties; sure, if you ask me, give me not 2 years, but 200 years of warranty; but, the thing is, if I am to pay more for warranty of a product, I would not do it; I have been using digital devices all my life; rarely, if ever, did I had to use my warranty; even in cases where I needed warranty, most of the time its warranty-free (let’s say, I drop a product in water); I rarely needed warranty for a product.
- Know When (and When Not) to Buy an Extended Warranty;
- Skip the Extended Warranty; Use a Good Credit Card Instead;
- I chose the cheapest provider on the market for two mice, around 50/70 lei (something like that) – I bought the mice online, they looked fine; when they came, I found out that they were actually laptop mice, and were very small; I contacted the site owners via Yahoo! Messenger; when they heard of the word “warranty”, they stopped talking to me (more than one person); finally, one person told me that it’s my fault, and I can’t return the mice (which was illegal, not to mention imoral); I found the mice good use in the end (I gave them to persons who used them with laptops, and the small size was an advantage in portability); the company doesn’t exist anymore –Â http://www.24pc.ro/;
- I chose a higher-than-average price provider, based on Internet reviews; I paid probably 5-15% (somewhere like this) more on a PC system than I could have possibly done, had I assembled the system by pieces (and I would also have had much more difficulties in getting them – transportation, more talks to each provider); I had a video card problem, it just crashed; I went with the video card to them, they said it’s the video card’s blame, and offered me a discount for the price I bought the card to a new card on their offer; the company is still alive on the market –Â http://itdirect.ro/;
