Chocolate, money & sex – best predictors of human behavior

I have once been to a conference in which one guy said that you can best predict a person’s behavior, by analyzing its relationship with just three things: Chocolate, money & sex. E.g., if you like chocolate to much, or too little, or you put restrictions, this affects your whole life. Same for money & sex. They can predict a lot of things in your life.

How to get feed-back? How to become a better you via feed-back? How to get an opinion?

One way is to ask for feed-back – “Hey, could you tell me your impression on …”. Do this for a while, and you will get some feed-back from various people. Another way is to start to listen. You, most likely, do get some feed-back in your day-to-day activities. People do tell you things. But most people tend to ignore this. Stop it. Finally, in order to get feed-back you may wish to get into a relationship. You see, the feed-back you get from a total stranger is much different than the feed-back you receive from a person you spend months, years, decades with. The feed-back in a relationship will be much more profound than the feed-back you get from a stranger. Why? Your partner knows you better. In a relationship, things are a lot like in childhood. Much easier to say things out when you are a child. (a bit joking, it seems I am actually at that level) :) (via)

What foods should you take with you while travelling?

OK, so you travel. What foods should you take with you? Drink: Plain water. Food: Citrus – from oranges to mandarin oranges, from grapefruit to pomelo, these tend to go OK with travelling. Yogurt – it tends not to spoil easily. Boiled eggs – again, rather easy to carry. Seeds – sunflower may be great, but others are fine, also.

LinkedIn birthdays – one of its best uses for the social network

I like Facebook‘s functions for birthdays a lot. I can synchronize it automatically with Google Calendar, and I can set Google Calendar to send me an email prior to the event. Great functionality. Unfortunately, LinkedIn is much more restrictive, and not only it doesn’t send me notifications of birthdays (or shows me the list of following birthdays), but also isn’t allowing exporting to an application like Google Calendar. Here’s where LinkedIn Birthday Reminders comes along. The application, in a few simple steps, allows you to download the data in a format which can then be later imported into Google Calendar. I find it very effective. The use? Telling people “Happy birthday” is a great way to stay in touch. Also, some people don’t display their birthday on Facebook, but do so on LinkedIn, and you’ll have an advantage if you use this.

How to hide Facebook thumbnail images from a web site?

facebookI recently had this issue on a web site I manage (data is a bit skewed, for simplifcation):

  • Big web site.
  • Three images in the article – A, B, C.
  • Three banners in the sidebar – X, Y, Z.
  • When I tested how Facebook saw the images I was sending, it was correct, Facebook saw I was sending A, B, C.
  • When the article was posted on Facebook, the images Facebook was getting were A, B, X. Huh?

How to solve this?
