I’ve seen „John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum” (2019). Thoughts?
- I regret watching the movie, it was wasted time.
- On the positive side, I learned some things about the current culture. I’ve seen the first movie (7/10), I missed the second one (and I don’t plan on seeing it), and now I’ve seen the third one. It’s not all bad, you get to know what people might like. I’m surprised so many people watched the movie mini-series.
- I got no emotion watching the movie, other than disgust at some too-convincing ugly scenes.
- The actors played well.
- The problem was with the script:
- First, almost all of the movie was an action movie. But, if on „Mad Max: Fury Road” (2015) it’s incredibly entertaining, and you barely wait to see what’s coming, in here it was incredibly boring. Same fights, same gun fights, same sword fights.
- Then, there was zero, and I mean ze-ro!, creativity in solving an issue. „Did a problem occur? We’ll solve it by insisting!” Everything was solved by adding just a little more pressure.
- Then, a major issue was that the main hero was superhuman. I won’t spoil the surprise, in case you want to watch it, but all the time you got the impression „Ohhh, something bad is going to happen!”. And when it did happen, there were no consequences.
- The fights 10 people vs. the main hero? Easily won by the main hero. One on one? Hmm, that’s equilibrated, it’s pretty much equal. This is an issue with other movies I’ve seen, but, still, it’s a drawback.
- Sword vs. no weapon? No weapon wins. Gun vs. no weapon? No weapon wins. Heavy gun equipment and defense vs. pistol? Pistol wins. This is just silly.
- The movie had great actors put to little use. Yes, there were some dialogues, but nothing too fancy, most of them rather boring, and short time allocated to dialogue.
- The special effects, costumes were nice.
- Overall, the movie is like a low budget movie, with special effects. A very silly script, but some flashy images. That’s pretty much it.
- I’m surprised the IMDb rating is currently 7.5 for almost 250.000 votes. It’s too high, in my opinion.
- I give the movie a 7/10, I wish I hadn’t watched the movie.
