I like this idea – try to do good for good’s sake.
For example, even if someone treats you badly, if you treat them fair, or even better, you treat them nicely, I think it’s the right way to do.
OK, if someone abuses your trust and then comes back again for attention, you have all right to adapt your behavior.
But, generally, if someone is disrespectful, you can still be respectful to them.
If someone is upset & sad & cynical & angry, you can still be happy and smile at them.
If the world tries to put you down, you can still show enthusiasm and be happy and energetic. It all should be about yourself, not how others behave.
At one point, Cătălin Zaharia, PhD, told me something along the lines of:
“People who are slim also have holidays and spend time with their families, but still, they are not fat. How do they do it?”
