There’s a quote I like: “There are no shortcuts to any place worth going.” – by Beverly Sills.

I’ve seen people going to conferences, pieces of training, trying to get in a short time a lot of knowledge. Also, networking, and getting new ideas.

I think it’s a worthwhile process. I do think people should attend conferences, do training, and so on.

But I also think that they should work hard and read books, some blogs perhaps.

Conferences are not enough.

Yes, they’re a hack, but it’s not enough.

Starting the logo design from the brand

Let’s say you want to do the visual identity for a brand.

I do SEO, not brand design, but as far as I know, you’ll need to start from the brand values.

First, establish what the brand values are, and what are some brand characteristics, create some general principles for design, and only at the end try to make a nice logo.

If you make a cool-looking logo, it might not reflect your brand.

I think the WordPress logo reflects their brand identity.

Classical music, classical movies

Not a long time ago, although I listened to a lot of classical music, I didn’t like it. I forced myself into liking it.

Now, I kind of like it.

About movies – there were movies which, some time ago, I would grade with a low grade, which now I like a lot.

Also, I tend to like most of the things I read / watch / listen to.

Sure, this doesn’t mean I grade each movie with a 10/10, that’s quite the opposite of how I do things.

But I do like more movies even more. I like more movies I watch, I like more of the music I listen to, and so on.

Things change. I’m happy for this.
