The third edition of the TechFest connected by Vodafone technology festival will take place in Cluj between November 8-11. For 4 days, experts and technology enthusiasts will be able to choose between 10 types of event formats that will take place at ClujHub, Polyvalent Hall and Vivo Mall in Cluj.
The first three days are dedicated to discussions and presentations about digital trends. TechFest will open its doors on November 8, at ClujHub, with the Science Summit organized by Modularity partner which will feature projects of smart homes or robotic workforce.
Digital Venture Lab will offer the opportunity to local start-ups to pitch their solutions to potential investors and corporate representatives.
On November 9, within the Polyvalent Hall, will take place TechJam sessions about Smart City, where Cristina Moga, co-founder of CivicTech, will present the use of public data used to create a smart city. The TechJam session in the afternoon will focus on several local successful start-ups such as hipMenu, Around25 or Tappitude. Within the same space, the partners at the IT Careers Fair will facilitate discussions between young specialists looking for IT&C jobs and companies eager to integrate them in this ecosystem.
Also, at the Polyvalent Hall will take place on Saturday, November 10, three more TechJam sessions focusing on Java, Android and Artificial Intelligence (AI) & Machine Learning. The detailed presentations will be delivered by local and international speakers including Pascal Bugnion, Data Engineer at ASI Data Science; Răzvan Valentin Florian, Director and Machine Learning Scientist at the Romanian Institute of Science and Technology; Francesco Romano, IoT Engineer and Harald Wendel, Software Developer at Transferwise unicorn who will talk about “Transaction Cascades”.
In parallel, MegaHack will take place with prizes summing 5,000 Euros and offered by Vodafone România. MegaHack is a challenge launched by the telco operator, the main partner of the event, and consists of a 24-hour programming marathon in which the participants will test their skills to solve business challenges by developing tech solutions for companies.
Enrollments can be made individually here and are free of charge. The participants will bring their own work equipment (laptop, charger etc.). During the competition, the teams will be supported by experienced mentors and the jury will be formed by representatives of Vodafone România and other local experts.
Vivo Mall will host EXPO Tech, an experimental area for hardware or software technology innovations which improve businesses and users’ lives.
Also, on Friday and Saturday, the partners of TechFest connected by Vodafone from the IT Careers Fair will be hosting gaming sessions for professional and amateur players at the Polyvalent Hall. Among the available games will be League of Legends and Hearthstone.
