Let’s say you want to build an online portfolio.
There are two major ways of doing this:
- You can create a static website with pages such as homepage/about/services/testimonials/pricing/contact.
- You can create a dynamic blog, with constantly-added articles.
Even if it’s a portfolio website, I prefer the latter approach.
Reasons for this?
- It forces me to update the blog. You can leave a website unchanged for years. If you don’t post anything on a blog for a few months, it will look like it’s deserted. This “it needs content” perspective helps me constantly add content to the blog.
- It gives me the impression of “always reinventing things”. On a website, you create content and rarely, if ever, change it. On a blog, there needs to be new content constantly.
