I know persons who think that by addressing a kind word to someone, you’re entitled to rewards.
They seem to actually consider that people need to pay you back, since you told them something nice.
To me, at least partially, this looks like manipulation, and I try to avoid this.
Sure, go for it, say something enjoyable, treat people nicely, avoid ugly words behind their backs, initiate polite conversations.
But don’t do this expecting something in return, that’s just mean.
