Psychiatrist Gabriel Diaconu: “Failure should help people become, not fall. Without failing, without falling apart sometimes, I wouldn’t be here today.”
Bucharest, November 15, 2023: Mihai Panfil – founder of Origo Coffee, Gina Matei – Leadership Coach and co-founder of Performant Company, Gabriel Diaconu – Psychiatrist and Matei Stănculescu – Psychotherapist and co-founder of Eka Center, share the obstacles and failures that have reshaped their definition of success at the 19th edition of Fuckup Nights Bucharest (FUN).
The event will take place at Stup on Monday 20 November, starting at 18:30. Registration is open and free of charge on the Stup platform, with limited seats available.
In a world where success seems the only currency, Fuckup Nights Bucharest explores the less glamorous but essential side of progress: failure.
FUN XIX brings together four successful people who embrace failure as an opportunity for growth and development. Mihai Panfil, Gina Matei, Gabriel Diaconu and Matei Stanculescu will talk openly about how they turned failure into an advantage, redefining failure as a fundamental element in their professional journey. Each talk will conclude with an interactive session, giving attendees the opportunity to enter an open dialogue with the speakers about the lessons of failure.
The event will be moderated by radio and TV journalist Julia Nagy.
Mihai Panfil is the founder of Origo, a brand that has revolutionized coffee culture in Romania. Passionate about hospitality, Mihai began building his career in the industry almost two decades ago. After years of accumulating knowledge and experience, he decided to turn his attention to the specialty coffee universe, launching Origo in 2013.
Thanks to his fresh vision and desire for innovation, Origo has not limited itself to being just a place where exceptional coffee is served but has grown into a distinct brand on the Romanian market, known for the quality of its products and services. Mihai has transformed Origo into a coffee hub, offering comprehensive barista training, coffee consulting services and organizing coffee-themed events, adding up to a 360-degree coffee experience.
Mihai sees mistakes not as obstacles, but as opportunities to learn and progress. “I’m more afraid of stagnation than of failure” , he says, emphasizing that action and belief in the possibilities are essential to the growth of any business.
Gina Matei is a Leadership Coach and co-founder of Performant Company. With a strong career in banking management, Gina promotes a culture of ethics, collaboration and innovation, with a passion for continuous education and development. With a holistic approach, she balances her career and family life, setting an example of success and balance.
Considering failure as a vital stage of learning, Gina sees it as a catalyst for growth. “Failure has taught me more than any success. It’s that tough but necessary mentor that brings out and strengthens our latent abilities, turning obstacles into opportunities for growth”, says Gina Matei.
Gabriel Diaconu is a psychiatrist with an impressive career in psycho-traumatology and suicidology. He has been running a private psychiatric clinic for almost a decade, consolidating his reputation both in Romania and internationally.
Despite his successful career, Gabriel takes a humble perspective on failures, seeing them as fundamental life lessons. “Failure should help people become, not fall. Without failing, without falling apart sometimes, I wouldn’t be here today. For better or worse” , says Gabriel Diaconu.
Matei Stănculescu is a top psychotherapist and coach, specialized in mental training and performance improvement. Co-founder of Eka-Wellness Centre, Matei brings a unique perspective on personal development, combining his knowledge in psychotherapy with experience in the creative industries.
Matei approaches failure as a normal and healthy aspect of any successful journey. “Failure is not a liability, but a signal to adjust, to learn, to persevere. Just as a great champion like Djokovic has faced defeats, so we must see every failure as a step towards victory” , says Matei Stănculescu.
