I tend not to read what do others say about companies before joining them.
So, if, theoretically, I were to apply to Microsoft, I wouldn’t go on forums where people share insights on what’s inside (besides Pentium).
Why so?
I think the habit of writing about a company is a sort of gossip.
It matters more what your direct superior(s) or direct employee(s) are than the general culture.
Also, I think people change, I’m not the same as the years pass.
More than this, people change jobs quite often these days.
Finally, let’s say an environment really is toxic. How would I handle it? Would it prepare me better for the future, rather than a „cool” environment? Perhaps. It’s a gamble I want to take.
