A lot of memories I have with a lot of people are based on emotions.
I remember little of what X said/did, but I remember how I reacted to their gestures.
The trouble with this? If I was 8 when I was annoyed, it doesn’t matter if now I would look at the situation differently.
It matters that when I was 8, I was happy/sad/angry at a person.
Their gesture – it’s irrelevant. Most of the time, either I can’t recall it, or it’s got a huge deformation in my mind (I don’t recall it correctly).
In conclusion – the memory is tricking me into remembering the wrong things about a person, mostly due to emotions.
