Yesterday, I went to CNN to see some news.

What struck me was the title – it was focused on American casualties.

So, America attacks Iran, lots of bad things happen over there. The most important piece of news, according to CNN? What are the casualties of the attackers.

Saddening.

This was supposed to be a joke, it seems it’s reality:

President Bush and Colin Powell are sitting in a cafe. A guy walks in and asks the waiter, „Isn’t that Bush and Powell sitting over there?” The waiter says, „Yep, that’s them.” So the guy walks over and says, „Wow, this is a real honor. What are you guys doing in here?” Bush says, „We’re planning WW III”. And the guy says, „Really? What’s going to happen?” Bush says, „Well, we’re going to kill 140 million Iraqis this time and one bicycle repairman.” The guy exclaimed, „A bicycle repairman? Why kill a bicycle repairman? Bush turns to Powell, punches him on the shoulder and says, „See, smart guy! I told you no one would worry about the 140 million Iraqis!”

Persona accessed rogi’s full name, passport photo, selfie, facial biometric data, NFC chip data (or the info stored on the chip inside his passport), his nationality, sex, birthday, age, email, phone number, physical address, IP address, geolocation, device type, MAC address, browser, OS version, and language.

Bottom-up analysis

About an analysis – should it be bottom-up or top-down? Should you go from the bottom and rise, or analyze from the top and go down.

When you analyze a professor or a university system, it’s much more appropriate to approach it like this:

“The good aspects of so-and-so are these. I refuse to focus on the negative ones, as long as the positives outweigh the negatives.”

The idea is that if you start by looking at the negative aspects, OR if you begin with an overall, global analysis, you’re likely to find shortcomings.

If, however, you start from the positive aspects, you will end up overlooking the negative ones.

Iepurașul se plimbă prin pădure

Într-o zi, un iepure alergă vesel prin pădure, când deodată sub un copac vede un cerb care fuma un trabuc.

– Ce faci, ai înnebunit? Într-o zi frumoasă ca asta, în mijlocul naturii, tu te intoxici? Hai cu mine să alergi, să-ți oxigenezi plămânii!

– Ai dreptate, spune cerbul, și începe să alerge cu iepurele.

În timp ce alergau, cei doi văd vulpea, care tocmai stătea cu nasul în cocaină.

– Hei, spune cerbul, aici în mijlocul naturii ți-ai găsit să iei cocaină?

Hai mai bine cu noi să alergi, să-ți oxigenezi plămânii.

– Ai dreptate, răspunde vulpea, și începe să alerge cu iepurele și cerbul.

Puțin mai încolo, îl întâlnesc pe lup, cu seringă în mână și cu o doză de heroină pură la îndemână.

– Hei, suntem în mijlocul naturii, și tu te droghezi? face vulpea. Mai bine vino să alergi cu noi, să-ți oxigenezi plămânii.

– Da’ mai duce-ți-vă naibii, face lupul, de fiecare dată când iepurele ia ecstasy, noi începem să alergăm că idioții prin pădure?

Hunting

Un urs bătrân îi zice colegului mai tânăr

Frank was excited about his new rifle and decided to try bear hunting. He spotted a small brown bear and shot it. Right after, there was a tap on his shoulder and he turned around to see a big black bear. The black bear said, „That was my cousin and you’ve got two choices… Either I maul you to death or we have sex.”

After considering briefly, Frank decided to accede to the latter alternative. Even though he felt sore for two weeks, Frank soon recovered and vowed revenge.

He headed out on another trip where he found the black bear and shot it. Right after, there was another tap on his shoulder. This time a huge grizzly bear stood right next to him. The grizzly said, „That was a big mistake, Frank. That was my cousin and you’ve got two choices. Either I maul you to death or we have rough sex.” Again, Frank thought it was better to cooperate.

Although he survived, it took several months before Frank finally recovered. Outraged, he headed back to the woods, managed to track down the grizzly and shot it. He felt sweet revenge, but, then, there was a tap on his shoulder. He turned around to find a giant polar bear standing there. The polar bear looked at him very sadly and said, „Admit it Frank, you don’t come here for the hunting, do you?”

Vânătoare

Un urs bătrân îi zice colegului mai tânăr

Frank era în culmea fericirii că îşi cumpărase o puşcă nouă. Aşa că a plecat la vânătoare de urşi. Zăreşte un urs cafeniu, de talie mică; îl împuşcă… Simte cum îl bate cineva pe umăr. Se întoarce şi vede un urs negru de talie mare. Îi zice ursul:

– Ursul pe care l-ai omorât era vărul meu. Ai de ales: ori te scarmăn până mori ori faci sex cu mine.

Frank alege să se aplece..

Deşi îl doare fundul cam două săptămâni, Frank se face bine şi jură răzbunare. Pleacă el iar la vânătoare, zăreşte ursul negru şi îl împuşcă. Simte iar cum îl bate cineva pe umăr. De data asta un ditai urs grizzly stătea chiar lângă el.

– Ai făcut o greşeală imensă, Frank… Ursul pe care l-ai omorât era vărul meu. Ai de ales : ori te scarmăn până mori sau faci sex crunt cu mine.

Din nou Frank se gândi că e mai bine să accepte.

Deşi a supravieţuit, i-au trebuit vreo două luni să se însănătoşească. Revoltat la culme, se întoarce în pădure, găseşte ursul grizzly, îl împuşcă… Răzbunarea îl răcoreşte… Simte cum îl bate cineva pe umăr. Când se întoarce… lângă el stătea un urs polar gigantic. Ursul polar îi spune:

– Recunoaşte, Frank, tu nu vii aici pentru vânătoare, nu-i aşa?

Mă face să mă gândesc la: Le notti di Cabiria (1957). (nu dau spoilere, tema articolelor mi se pare similară cu a filmului; actrița care a jucat-pe Cabiria era soția regizorului)

Absolut impresionantă deschiderea din articol, și emoțiile.

La întrebarea „de ce există răul, de ce este permisă suferința?”, un răspuns ar putea fi „pentru a rezulta un bine mai mare.”.

Nu știu care e binele mai mare aici, dar în cazul meu m-a făcut să reflectez la unele lucruri.

Cu o medie netă de 8.000 de lei pe lună, IT-ul continuă să fie cel mai bine plătit domeniu. Urmează petrol & gaze, automatizări, construcții, inginerie și crewing & casino. Cele mai mici salarii sunt în saloanele și clinicile de înfrumusețare și în pază și protecție

București, 19 februarie 2026: După un 2025 în care salariile nu au înregistrat creșteri notabile, candidații aflați acum în căutarea unui loc de muncă se uită cu atenție la pachetul salarial și la cel de beneficii extra pe care le oferă angajatorii. La început de an, clasamentul domeniilor care plătesc cel mai bine este dominat, ca și până acum, de IT, sector în care media netă, la nivel național este 8.000 de lei, în creștere cu aproximativ 15% față de anul trecut.
