Fuckup Nights bring a constructive perspective on professional failures, encouraging learning from difficult situations, thus facilitating creativity.
“Autumn is here, so let’s take a leaf out of one another’s professional wisdom book at the eleventh edition of FUN Bucharest! Let’s inspire each other and normalize such a human thing: failure. We bring together professionals from various fields to discover different experiences, aspects that we can’t easily find in our everyday lives. This is the tangible benefit of Fuckup Nights: it reminds us that we are human and that we have the power to get through any difficult situation and, implicitly, progress”, says Diana Iosu, Fuckup Nights Bucharest organizer.
The moderator will be the radio and television journalist Julia Nagy.
“For me, ever since childhood, failure has been some sort of self-cancellation. Being good at something, not making mistakes was some kind of personal salvation, but it came with the fear to disappoint. I lived with this unconscious inclination for the longest time. Even after I became an educational entrepreneur after I had stopped being an employee and took my destiny and my financial security into my own hands. I was still afraid that I would disappoint, I still needed external confirmation that I was doing well. I only truly prospered after I became aware of the fear and the shame of making mistakes when my psyche no longer had filters and defense systems. I overcame this fear only after I failed miserably and I reached the very last bastion of appearances, one I so desperately tried to conquer. I failed on almost all levels, at one point, I reached the very end, where the only thing left for me to do was to begin again. This big and glorious fall has been my greatest opportunity because it taught me to rebuild everything with different energy and a different awareness” says Oana Moraru, Helikon School Founder.
Radu Savopol will also share his entrepreneurial journey full of different obstacles: “Entrepreneurship is a puzzle made up of positive and negative experiences alike. Over the years, the businesses I have run have had their specific challenges: starting with the lack and quality of the workforce, to the unfortunate situations that the pandemic has brought our way. We found solutions for every problem, due to an efficient management plan and our ability to see the big picture. We realized, based on the circumstances created by the pandemic, that it’s not failure standing in the way of our performance, but our fear of failure – that’s what you have to conquer.”
“It took me a while to make failure my teacher. My first contact with failure was a painful one because I would identify with my mistakes. Life has been different ever since I learned we are not the sum of our mistakes. What we are is the energy and the ambition that goes into starting again, from the beginning, after each failure. The decision is yours: do you want to live a tortured life, where failure is your executioner, or would you rather live a life of evolution, where mistakes and failure are your teachers?” says Andra Pintican, founder of Scoala de HR.
A story about professional trials will be shared by Mihai Zant: “A mentor of mine once said to me:`Mihai, only the one who does no work makes no mistakes`. Little did I know that these words would sound in my mind whenever I experienced a major professional failure. And, fortunately, I have lived through quite a few. What I have learned so far is that the most important life lessons come from failure and significant emotional turmoil. They are simply etched deeper into your memory and you feel them through your whole body. This made me take myself less seriously, hold myself accountable for my mistakes and failures, be gentler and more lenient with myself. Moreover, it made me want to learn from the failures of others.”
Oana Moraru is the founder of Helikon School in Bucharest, focusing on alternative learning programs built to follow the individual needs of children, while also considering their emotional development and the healthy interaction with the world. Oana has more than 25 years of experience in teaching and school management. She is also a speaker, a trainer, and a publicist on educational topics.

Radu managed to standardize both the services and the quality of the coffee in all 250 5 to go units, relying on franchising and solid business principles.
