Going to the gym with other people

Is going to the gym with others a good thing?

Yes:

  • It may help you be more motivated.
  • It may help you feel good while you exercise.
  • It may make you more responsible.

Well, to me, it isn’t. Why?

  • It makes it harder for me to focus on actually working out.
  • It distracts me.
  • I waste way longer time by waiting / synchronizing pauses between exercises to have a chance to talk than I gain anything else.
